Dawn’s Education and Experience

Dawn is the owner of DE Whiting LLC and her areas of concentration are tax resolution, planning, preparation, estate planning, business planning and probate. She is excited to help clients overcome issues with the IRS, to be able to grow their business through tax and business planning, and to assist in planning of assets through estate planning and probate administration.
 
Dawn has been working in the tax field for over 30 years, over 25 of those years has been as a tax, estate planning and probate attorney. Her goal is to have her clients feel comfortable with the solutions designed for them and to feel relief when the projects are done, whether it is IRS relief, planning for your future or having the year's taxes done and moving into the new year.
 
Dawn graduated from the University of South Florida with bachelor degrees in Medical Technology and Microbiology. In 1988, while she worked full time at Fleet Bank of Maine, she achieved her Masters in Business at Husson College (now, Husson University) in Bangor, Maine. The concentration for her Masters was taxation. Dawn then went on and received her Juris Doctorate from Franklin Pierce Law School (now, UNH School of Law) in 1994. Her concentration was in taxation, estate planning, business and probate. She recently completed the certification to be a Certified Tax Representative Consultant.
 

During her career, Dawn:

• Set up an H & R Block office in Camden, Maine
• Managed the Trust Tax Department for Fleet Bank of Maine
• Worked in public accounting firms as a Tax Accountant
• Is currently a Tax Consultant for CPAs, Financial Planners, and Attorneys
• Now operates her own small business in tax, business, and legal services

Throughout her career, Dawn has been a successful entrepreneur and understands the business world. She has assisted non-profits in attaining tax-exempt status, drafted estate planning documents to assist in minimizing taxation, avoiding or minimizing probate and advised clients regarding effective tools for smoother financial transition to loved ones after death. Dawn has successfully negotiated to tax alternative solutions for her clients which include installment agreements, offer in compromise, penalty abatement, and release of levies.
 
Dawn serves by appointment by the State of New Hampshire as a Notary Public and a Justice of the Peace.
 
When Dawn is not working in the office, she is working just as hard at home on her farm. She raises vegetables, herbs, flowers, berries, and egg-laying chickens on her farm. Though some do not like the sounds of guinea hens, she loves to raise them from hatching eggs to being out and about on tick patrol. Dawn's Springer Spaniels keep her active walking, and she loves to put her Kayak in to small ponds and in the Merrimack. The peacefulness of her farm rejuvenates her energy for the passions she enjoys in the office.
